Confirmation <strong>of</strong> Previous <strong>Minutes</strong>The minutes from August were confirmed.3. CorrespondenceWe received correspondence from the Mayor <strong>of</strong> Marrickville acknowledgingTom’s letter regarding potential problems on the Palace St and Brighton Stintersection.4. Criteria for <strong>Fort</strong>ian Alumni wallJules read an email from John Melville regarding his initial thoughts, being thatwe should look at <strong>Fort</strong>ians who have excelled in their field rather than simplyparticipated. John suggests that a sub committee could be set up to perform theinitial work and present recommendations. Tom agreed that this is going to be adifficult procedure and asked whether there will need to be a distinction between<strong>High</strong> Court Judges vs Federal Court Judges, Group <strong>of</strong> 8 Pr<strong>of</strong>essors vs allUniversity Pr<strong>of</strong>essors etc? Also Federal politicians vs State Politicians? AlsoKnights <strong>of</strong> the Realm and OAs. Should we include serving mayors? Don addedthat it needs to be someone who has had an impact in their field. Ros asked ifperhaps we should include someone for their long service in public life? Rossuggested that a sub committee would be way forward as John has suggested.Tom, Don and Aulina will begin this project by applying some <strong>of</strong> the suggestedcriteria to the current list. This will be revisited at the next meeting inNovember.5. Criteria for Non <strong>Fort</strong>ian service medalTom suggested that this should be available to teaching staff. Ros asked if it wasenough to say distinguished service to the school? Tom added that an examplewould be the people responsible for succeeding with the aircraft noise project.The <strong>Council</strong> agreed with this and Ros will speak to Christine Humphreysregarding the design <strong>of</strong> a medal.


The Technopush team were successful for a second year, winning the award forbest design. The kart is on show in the foyer.Penny Starr has been covering for Chris Kemp who will be returning to schooltomorrow.There have been some incidents <strong>of</strong> student stress, which the school isresponding to.The Robocup team won the UNSW senior division and will be going to theNational competition in Canberra.The China trip will be extended by 1 day due to flight changes.10. Other reportsP&C ReportNo reportStudent ReportAulina reported that there had been a <strong>High</strong> Tea that was attended by studentrepresentatives from other schools who visited FSHS for the afternoon.Aulina also asked about the SRC nomination process. Ros replied that the SRChas its own nomination process that takes place separately to the <strong>School</strong><strong>Council</strong>.<strong>Fort</strong>ians Union ReportDon reported that the <strong>Fort</strong>ians Union had not met.Foundation ReportThe Foundation will take place at the conclusion <strong>of</strong> this meeting.11.
