We at<strong>the</strong> <strong>Burr</strong> <strong>Ridge</strong> <strong>Park</strong> <strong>District</strong> feel very honored to be given <strong>the</strong> opportunity to once again serve<strong>the</strong> needs of all working parents and <strong>the</strong>ir children in <strong>the</strong> Gower <strong>School</strong> <strong>District</strong>. The <strong>Park</strong><strong>District</strong> prides itself in providing a safe, recreational and educational program for every childenrolled in <strong>the</strong> program.During <strong>the</strong> course of <strong>the</strong> school year <strong>the</strong>re may be some changes, but fundamentally <strong>the</strong> BASC<strong>Program</strong> will remain as previously structured. We will always keep you informed when anychanges may occur.All calls made to <strong>the</strong> BASC program must be made to <strong>the</strong> <strong>Burr</strong> <strong>Ridge</strong> <strong>Park</strong> <strong>District</strong> ra<strong>the</strong>rthan <strong>District</strong> 62. The BASC program will have its own on-site phone. During operational hours,staff will be available to answer your calls; voicemail will be activated during non-operationalhours and your calls will be returned if necessary.All parents of enrollees will receive cards with all <strong>Park</strong> <strong>District</strong> and BASC contact names andphone numbers. At <strong>the</strong> end of <strong>the</strong> school day,<strong>the</strong>re is a bus assigned to bring BASCstudents to Gower West. Guidelines for ConductDisciplineA 3 step behavior management techniquewill be used at our program. The 1-2-3Method identifies a specific inappropriatebehavior, documents a second offense,and administers a previously known outcome.This process will be performedobjectively, openly and immediately.Participants will be expected to respectthis process and <strong>the</strong> authority of <strong>the</strong> staff.“Time Out,” a period of non-participationnot to exceed ten minutes, will be usedas <strong>the</strong> standard response to inappropriatebehavior. If behavior patterns continue, aparent/director meeting will be requested.The objective of this meeting will be toidentify strategies that will modify behaviorand restore <strong>the</strong> fun of <strong>the</strong> program for<strong>the</strong> child. If problems persist, an out ofprogram suspension will be administered.Fur<strong>the</strong>r problems may result in a dismissalfrom this program.Inappropriate LanguageWe have a “Zero Tolerance” policy forinappropriate language. Our staff is beingadvised to turn any language issues overto BASC Director Vicki Manteck.
