131The beautiful and pleasant music of cymbals in the heavens onlycreates an increase in their mental agitation whereas the speech of thetathagatas, whose nature is compassion, turns the mind towardssamadhi and stimulates reflection.In brief, it is said that the cause of happiness, for those in each andevery universe, in heaven or earth, depends entirely upon that verymelody of the buddhas' speech which is manifest all-pervasively inevery world.who hears the subtle dharmaJust as those with no hearing cannot experience subtle sound andeven with divine hearing not all sounds can be heard, so also is thesubtle dharma, the domain of very finest jnana, only able to be heardby those few whose mind is undefiled.3B3. CLOUDS - The Example of the All-Pervading Compassionate Mindbrief outline of exampleThe rainy season's clouds continually and effortlessly downpourvast amounts of water onto the earth and are the cause for good andbountiful crops. Likewise clouds of compassion, without any conceptualising,rain down their waters of the victors' noble teaching andcause the harvests which are the virtues of sentient beings.expansion of exampleProvided that the world is engaged in virtue's ways 9 , the windborneclouds will cause a fall of rain. Likewise compassion's windcauses buddha-clouds to cascade their rain of true teachings toincrease the virtue in beings.There are present in the world, due to great compassionate loveand knowledge, the lord of all sages' clouds. These abide in a spaceunblemished by either that which changes or the changeless 10 . Theyhave as their unspoilt essence samadhi and dharani's waters, which arethe very cause for the harvest of virtue in the worlds.
