The Petroleum Geosciences Program at the Petroleum Instituteis designed to give students a rigorous educationin the fundamentals of geology and geophysics with specifictraining in applications of geoscience in the oil and gasindustries. The program features several field trips and asummer field geology course.The Program leads to the Bachelor of Science Degree inPetroleum Geosciences. Advanced studies leading to theM.Sc. start in spring 2010, and a Ph.D. program is plannedfor the near future.Students that successfully complete the Bachelor of ScienceProgram will be able to enter the petroleum industryas petroleum geologists or petroleum geophysicists andhave a solid educational base if they decide to continue ina graduate program.The degree program begins the second year with coursesthat cover the basic elements of the geological and geophysicalsciences. Higher level courses include Geology ofthe Middle East, Earth Materials (mineralogy) and courseswith students studying Petroleum Engineering includingeconomics. The program continues with advanced coursesin Structural Interpretation, Petrology, Petroleum Geophysics,Geostatistics, Sedimentology and Stratigraphy, RockProperties, Petrophysics, Environmental Geology and ReflectionSeismology. A key component of the program isstudent’s access to advanced laboratories, including computerlaboratories where the reservoirs can be studied inthree dimension using reflection seismic and other data ina virtual reality format. This greatly facilitates the understandingof the complexities of reservoir stratigraphy andrelationships between reservoir geology and petroleumproduction. A project course that typically includes thestudy of problems utilizing real data from UAE reservoirsis offered in the final semester.برنامج علوم االرض البرتوليةيهدف برنامج علوم الجيولوجيا النفطية يف املعهد البرتويل إىل تدريسالطالب أساسيات الجيولوجيا والجيوفيزياء وتدريبهم يف مجال تطبيقاتالعلوم الجيولوجية يف صناعات النفط والغاز.‏ ميتاز الربنامج الدرايس مبنحهالطالب رحالت علمية ميدانية والتطبيق العميل يف الصيف يف مجالالجيولوجيا.‏ حاليا مينح الربنامج درجة البكالريوس يف علوم الجولوجياالبرتولية ويف ربيع ‎2010‎م يبدأ برنامج املاجستري يف علوم الجولوجياالبرتولية ويتم التخطيط حاليا لوضع برنامج مينح درجة الدكتوراه يفاملستقبل القريب.‏يستطيع خريجو هذا الربنامج اإللتحاق مبجال الصناعات البرتوليةلكونه متخصصا يف علوم الجيولوجيا او الجيوفيزيائية النفطية.‏ كام ميتازاملتخرجون مبتانة دراستهم واستحقاقهم دخول برنامج الدراسات العليا.‏يبدأ برنامج علوم الجيولوجيا النفطية يف السنة الثانية باملساقات التيتغطي العنارص األساسية يف علوم الجيولوجيا والجيوفيزيائية.‏ تشملاملساقات املتقدمة جيولوجيا الرشق األوسط،‏ ومعادن األرض،‏ ومساقاتهندسة البرتول مبا يف ذلك االقتصاد.‏ يستمر الربنامج يف تقديم مقرراتمتقدمة يف يف طبقات األرض،‏ و الصخور،‏ والبرتول،‏ والجيوفيزياء،‏وإحصائيات الجيولوجيا،‏ وخصائص الصخور،‏ والفيزياء البرتولية،‏والجيولوجيا البيئية،‏ ودراسة الزالزل.‏تثل املختربات املتقدمة ، مبا يف ذلك مختربات الكمبيوتر،جانبا أساسيا يفالعملية التعليمية حيث يوجد فيه ارشيف املعلومات التي ميكن دراستهاباستخدام التقنيات ثالثية االبعاد ومن ضمنها البعد االنعكاس السيزميوغريها من البيانات التي تشكل الصور االفرتاضية.تساعد هذه الوسائلبشكل كبريعىل فهم تعقيدات الطبقات املخزونة والعالقات بني جيولوجيااملكامن النفطية واالنتاج.‏ يقوم الطالب يف فصل التخرج مبرشوع بحثييقوم عيل استخدام البيانات الحقيقية من ارشيف دولة اإلمارات العربيةاملتحدة ملقاربة مسائل ذات صلة.‏Petroleum Geosciences
