88 Chapter 4Still opening these doorsheavier nowwith my own hands,weathered brown on brown.Artist Statement for Stanza Three:KevinThe line I liked most in this stanza was the last one, “weatheredbrown on brown,” so I decided to show how the hand and thedoor are both weathered. Ms. <strong>Wood</strong> brought in a bunch <strong>of</strong> scrapmetal and leaves from outside, and I found the perfect piece <strong>of</strong>metal. It was almost the same color as the leaves and it really washeavy. It was hard to make a hand out <strong>of</strong> crunched up leaves, butI wanted it to look as weathered as possible. I drew some glue inthe shape <strong>of</strong> a hand and made it look like it was reaching out toopen the door.Still holding soles and hammermending leather stubborn as my palmsgently drumminggently drumming.Artist Statement for Stanza Four:ScottFor stanza four, I made a hammer out <strong>of</strong> Model Magic and thesole <strong>of</strong> a shoe out <strong>of</strong> construction paper.
