Common newborn concerns such as bathing, umbilicalcord care, temperature taking, and jaundice are also discussed. Parents accompany the sibling on a guidedtour of the maternity unit as they view Mom’s room and see new babiesthrough the nursery window. Course fee is $30* for each component.Gestational DiabetesInstruction on diabetes self-care and nutrition is available. Based on the Creighton Model FertilityCare System,couples are taught how to determine the woman’s fertility cycle anduse this knowledge to either achieve or avoid a pregnancy as the coupledesires. Couples who are having a difficult time conceiving will findthis class particularly helpful. Success for achieving pregnancy rangesfrom 76% to 98% in the first six cycles of trying for couples of normalfertility. Effectiveness for couples trying to avoid a pregnancy is 96.8%to 99.5%.
