MINES NEWS NUASAHI RENOVATIONS & INNOVATIONS The Neutral Grounding Resistor with earth leakage protection has been provided in the neutral earthing system of 1600 KVA Transformer at N C Mines as a safety measure. It trips both primary and secondary breaker of this transformer when leakage of current exceeds 300 MA and provides safety from any electrical shock. It is an additional safety for earth leakage protection provided in each feeder of underground supply through earth leakage relay. A 1600 KVA, 11 KV/ 433 V Transformer got modified from OEM at 2.65 lakh and recommissioned at NCM to overcome the problem of low voltage and to reduce the running hours of Diesel Generator set. The modification has helped in getting appropriate voltage output from 6 KV to 11 KV primary voltage. Per unit cost is Rs. 6/- more in DG Set in comparison to NESCO supply. This has resulted in saving of Rs. 5,78,000/- per month. The team led by Mr. R K Jha under the guidance of Mr. Mayadhar Moharana, SVP (Power Project) successfully installed this modification. INDEPENDENCE DAY Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August’ 2009. The day started with the ‘Pravat Pheri’ by School children. The National flag was unfurled by Mr. R. K. Jha, DGM (Electrical). The guard of honor was presented by the Security and Group-4 personnel. On this occasion, various competitions were also organized like Speech, Slogan and Patriotic song followed by distribution of prizes to the successful participants. Bharatiya Vidya Niketan, Bidyadharpur, under the patronage of IMFA Group celebrated the Independence Day. Mr. T. K. Hota, Asst. Manager(Mechanical), graced the occasion as Chief Guest. and hoisted the National flag. On this occasion, the students also participated in Patriotic songs, Fancy dress and Debate competitions. Independence Day was also celebrated by Boula Region Chromite Mines Workers Union. National Flag was hoisted by Mr. R. K. Jha, DGM (Electrical) at the Union office premises. GANESH POOJA On 23rd August' 2009, Ganesh Pooja was solemnized at N C Mines Camp premises with “Puspanjali” and “Prayer”. LORD BISWAKARMA POOJA Lord Biswakarma Pooja was celebrated at N C Mines on 17.09.2009. Havan and Prayer were offered by the employees and colony inmates. All the machines including different mechanical and electrical installations with tools and tackles got divine blessings along with their users. January – March 2010 8 DURGA POOJA alankar Durga Pooja was celebrated at N C Mines from 24.09.2009 to 28.09.2009. The week-long celebration of Dussera right from “Bilwa Diwas” to “Bijaya Dasami” at N.C.Mines attracted the people of the locality. On this occasion, a Melody program was organized in 26th October, 2009 night by Sur Jhankar from Balasore. The immersion of idol of Goddess Durga took place at river Salandi in an attractive procession. GROUP DRAWING COMPETITION A Drawing competition was organized on 31.08.2009 under the guidance of IMFA Personnel Department at the Company's Guest House for the employee’s children to short- list the painting for preparing Greeting Cards for the forthcoming New Year. Mr. R K Mishra, G.M(Mines) was present to inspire the participants. FOUNDATION DAY CELEBRATION On the occasion of Foundation Day, a Tug of War game was organized for employees. The celebration started with an opening song by colony children followed by lighting of candles and Birth day cake cutting by Mr. M. K. Mahapatra, GM (P&A) in the presence of Mr. R. K. Mishra, GM (Mines) and other employees. At the end of the meeting, the dignitaries distributed the 'Long & Dedicated Service Awards' to the employees and prizes to the winners of sports events. A scene of Tug of War Scholarship to Students Sri. Rajesh Kumar Ojha, S/o. Sri.Rangadhar Ojha for pursuing + 2 Course received the IMFA Group Student Scholarship from Mr. M. K. ANNUAL SPORTS Annual sports 2009 was organized in the 4th week of November, 2009 for both male and female workers, staff, executives and colony in-mates. The winners are: OUTDOOR GAMES (Male): Slow Cycle Race: 1 st - Mr. Susanta Behera, 2 nd - Mr. Umakanta Jena, 3 rd - Mr. Suresh Prusty. High Jump: 1 st - Mr. Badrinarayan Das , 2 nd - Mr. Ranjan Khatua, 3 rd - Mr. Alok Jena, Long Jump: 1 st – Mr. Bhimasen Padhiary, 2 nd - Mr. Chintamani Bhuyan, 3 rd - Mr. Gadadhar Nayak. 100 Mtrs. January – March 2010 9 alankar Slow Cycle Race & Lemon Race for Women SGAT PROGRAM Environmental-cum-Mineral Awareness Program under the aegis of Society of Geo-Scientists and Allied Technologists (SGAT) was conducted in the Mines Children’s Park on 18.11.2009. Students from 9 local institutions participated in it. Competitions lon Essay and Mineral identification were conducted for the students in the morning session. A Quiz competition was oraganised in the afternoon session. The program was daised by Mr. R. N. Praharaj, SGM D (MPD), Prof. Dr. S. N.Acharya from SGAT, Mr. D. K. Parija, Mining Officer, Keonjhar and Mr. R. K. Mishra, GM(Mines). Prizes were given to the winners. Students were taken around the mines for an exposure to mining activities. The dais at the SGAT Program “Action indeed is the sole medium of expression for ethics.”
