WIRE MESH SUPPORT GRIPSIndustrial Grade Wire Mesh Safety GripsSUPPORT GRIPSSupport Grips are designed to hold the weight of cable on vertical or sloping runs. They may beused indoors or outdoors to support electrical and fiber optic cable, metal rods and tubing.Leviton Support Grips are woven with tinned bronze wire. For applications requiring a greaterdegree of corrosion resistance, stainless steel wire is available on special order. For informationregarding selection of the proper-sized support grip, see pages Q4 and Q5.StyleSINGLE “U” EYEFor use when cable is vertical and for applications where cablebends or where a single attachment is more advantageous forpositioning.DOUBLE “U” EYEFor use when cable is vertical and extends through the gripwithout bending. Eyes may be fastened to open hooks, butshould not be more than 15° from the axis of vertical cable. When eyes are supported equally, this attachment offers a fullybalanced load.OFFSET EYESimilar to single eye applications, but for use when offset positioningis required.LOCKING (UNIVERSAL) BALEAdjustable and self-locking, this attachment fits around a beam, pipe or other continuous structural object. The bale wrapsaround the object and is securely anchored in the bar.Split Lace/Split RodSPLIT LACEBeginning at the lead end of the grip, thread the lacing throughthe first two loops of the split, pulling the lace through until theends are centered evenly. Cross laces and thread through thenext two loops, and so on down the grip, being careful not topull the lacing too tight. The spacing of the lace closure shouldbe approximately the same as that of the mesh weave. Whenthe end of grip is reached, twist the lacing strands tightlytogether; wrap the ends of the lace around the grip and twistagain to secure. Excess length may be cut off.Wire Mesh Safety GripsSPLIT RODSplit grips with rod closing install quickly and they are economicaland reusable. Simply wrap the grip around the cable andthread the rod through the loops, using a corkscrew motion. Toremove, pull the rod out; and the grip is ready for re-use.For answers to technical questions, call Leviton’s Techline at 1-800-824-3005Q19
