1. Field Observations: (2) 100 points eachTeacher candidates are required to visit the same centers for 2.5 hours each visit. Thecenter must be the approved site list. The questions for the observations are listed underthe assignment icon. On the second field observation the teacher candidate is required toteach one of the written lesson plans required for this course (See #5 below). Theevaluation form for the teacher is located under the assignment resource icon.***Prior to embarking on the field observation teacher candidates must have an updatedpacket on file with the <strong>ECE</strong> <strong>Coordinator</strong> which includes the following:Physical with TBThree letters of referencesCopy of high school diplomaSigned conviction statementBCI and FBI check with <strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Kathy</strong> <strong>Head</strong>’s name and the college address at the topSigned confidentiality statementAll observations must have the signature of the director/teacher of the center visited.Teacher candidates can scan the signature and send electronically, or send it by mail (<strong>Dr</strong>.<strong>Kathy</strong> <strong>Head</strong> LCCC, 1005 N Abbe Rd. Elyria, Ohio 44035) or drop off in the PS 106office. Failure to complete the two observations and follow these procedures will resultin an “F” for the course.


2. Weekly Discussion questions: (8) 10 points eachTeacher candidates are to answer each weekly discussion and respond to classmatesposts. Points will be deducted for failure to answer the question and/or respond toclassmates.The points given for discussions will be based on the following:Quality of your responses, which should be more than you agree or disagree withsomeone. It also means that you are detailed in your discussion of assignmentinformation. You must support your comments with information from the readings andvideos.Quantity of responses, you must respond to at least one other classmate during the weekthat the forum is posted for response to classmates.* On time, this means on, before or by the due date. I will consider during grading,students who continually post comments at the last minute just to get the points. Thepurpose of the discussion board is to converse with your classmates as you would ina traditional classroom setting. This cannot happen if you are posting at the last minute.4. Website article summary: 50 pointsGo to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention page titled, "Injury, Violence, &Safety athtp://cdc.gov/InjuryViolenceSafety. Select three (3) topics to explore. Read theQuick Facts and "Injury Prevention Tips for Parents and Children". Discuss in threeparagraphs how this information can guide you as you plan your classroom environment.


5. Lesson Plans: (2) 90 points eachTeacher candidates are required to create two lesson plans using the lesson plan templatelocated under assignment/ resources at the top of the page. The lesson plans must be forchildren aged 2-5. One of the lessons must be taught on your second observation. Theteacher must evaluate the lesson by completing the evaluation form attached to week 7assignment.6. QuizzesThere will be three 10 point quizzes.
