She called attention when she
won, in 2010, at the Barbados
World Championship an
unprecedented women’s title for
Brazil, fighting outside her
category. She first began practicing
boxing at 18 after she met her
husband José Antonio, a muay thai
master. She played volleyball but
gave it up because she had to
work. She secured the Olympic
place during a very difficult
moment of her life - she lost her
younger brother in a motorcycle
accident at the end of 2011.
