After playing for the Vasco/Barueri (SP),
at the National Championship of 2000,
Nenê moved to the “headquarters” in
Rio de Janeiro where he was a Brazilian
champion in 2001 and became a member
of the adult national team. In 2002 he
was selected by the NBA New York Knicks
but was immediately transferred to the
Denver Nuggets, the team he defended
for 10 seasons. He made the finals of the
West Conference in 2009 but the Denver
team was beaten by the Los Angeles
Lakers. He was away from the courts at
the beginning of 2008 to successfully
remove a tumor on the testicles.
