At the age of 20, he started to dedicate himself to athletics. He participated in the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 and, this year in Turkey, gained fame when he became the indoor world champion with the mark of 8.28m. He is a cousin of the singer Thiaguinho, a former Exaltasamba band member. athletics
