A founder of the social project “Medalha de Ouro” (Gold Medal), he intends to dedicate full time to this undertaking after he retires as an athlete in 2016. The idea is to strengthen the development of a center for the training of potentially talented athletes. At the Beijing Olympic Games he finished the 800m in 18th place and was the best South American athlete of the event. athletics

At the Daegu World Championship in South Korea 2011 he obtained the 8th place but didn’t compete at the World Indoor Championship of 2012. He enjoys watching TV when he is not training or competing and is a great admirer of the legendary pole vault jumper Sergei Bubka. athletics
