Considered one of the greatest
promises of Brazil in sprint events,
Carlos Roberto was a long jump
athlete before specializing in
sprint races. Discovered by a
teacher at his hometown, Pio
played basket and football
without success. Even if a little
apprehensive he agreed to
participate in athletics
tournaments. The good results
soon gave him the necessary
encouragement he was approved
in tests and moved to the city of
São Paulo.
