Athletics almost lost the talent of Caio
Bonfim to football. From 2005 to 2007 he
was a player for the Brasiliense (DF) Club.
Disappointed with the small chances of
playing with the ball he transferred to
race walk for the joy of Gianetti Oliveira
de Sena Bonfim, his mother and former
race walker and seven times champion of
the Brazil Trophy. With just 40 days of
training sessions he made the qualifying
time for the World Juvenile Championship.
In his first year among professional
athletes he broke the Brazilian record at
the 20km event. His father, João de Sena
Bonfim is the president of the Sobradinho
Athletics Center.
