Fernando was the champion of the
Pan American Games in 2011 in
Guadalajara when he lifted a total
of 410kg winning the gold medal,
which had never been won by a
Brazilian athlete before. In 2010 he
was the first athlete of the country
to win a medal at World
Championships. In December of
the same year he was granted the
National Collegiate Championships
award in the USA.
