He was a children/youth champion in 2001 and, in the same year, began to be called for the adult national team. During his free time he enjoys surfing. Before his first participation in the Italian volleyball he used to live at Recreio dos Bandeirantes, in Rio de Janeiro, and often surfed at the Macumba beach. He also likes fishing. volleyBall

At 16, he had a school scholarship and was required to participate in some type of school sport. He started with the basketball team but the team lost its sponsorship, so he transferred to volleyball. He was elected the best blocker of the Super League 2007/08 and, since 2009, is a frequent member of the Brazilian national team. volleyBall
