Fernandinha did not participate in the
Pre-Olympic Tournament but her
performances at the Grand Prix of this
year (she was the third best server of the
competition and the official setter at the
final phase), secured a place in the group
that will strive for one more gold medal in
London. She competed in the last season
at the Igtisadchi Baku of Azerbaijan and
prior to that played in Italy for five
seasons for three different teams. She
started to practice volleyball at 8 at the
America Club encouraged by her parents
who are Physical Education teachers. She
played as a hitter up to 1997.
