Athletics entered Laila’s life almost by
chance: after she began to study at the
Physical Education graduation course at
the Unifor University in 2005, the
professor and course coordinator called
her for a test, as he noticed that she had a
very quick arm movement due to having
been a former handball player. She was a
teacher before dedicating herself
exclusively to athletics. In the future, she
intends to be a coach. During her free time
she likes to go fishing. Her boyfriend is
Wagner Domingos – the “Montanha” –
Brazilian athlete specialized in hammer
throwing. She lives in São Paulo.
