Thanks to the insistence of her
Physical Education teacher Celia,
Jailma started to compete. At first,
her parents and sister helped her
financially. The adaptation in São
Paulo was easier due to the good
results obtained on the tracks. She
uses her free time to rest and
browse through the internet. She
admires the Olympic winner
Joaquim Cruz. She was the reserve
athlete for the 4x400m relay race
at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games
where Brazil finished in the 13th position.
