Joana started to swim at the age
of 3, to compete at 12 and at 16
was already a Pan American
Games medalist. In 2004, at 17, she
won the 5th place at the Athens
Olympic Games and considers that
the best moment of her sports
career. Superstitious, the lefthanded
girl always climbs the
starting block with her left foot. A
fan of Fabíola Molina and Chico
Xavier she enjoys going to parties,
to the movies and to cook.
