A symbol of success of the NGO
“Instituto Reação” created by the
Olympic medalist Flavio Canto,
Rafaela Silva won a silver medal at
the Guadalajara Pan American
Games – losing at the finals to the
Cuban Yurisleidys Lupetey, world
champion in 2011. At 12, because
she was a street trouble maker,
she was introduced to judo by the
coach Geraldo Bernardes who saw
in that little girl, a talent to be
polished.
