Chosen for five consecutive seasons
(between 2006 and 2010) as the best
women’s football player of the world by
FIFA, Marta is going to participate for the
third time in the Olympic Games. Top scorer
of the Rio 2007 Pan American Games with
12 goals, she also scored the highest
amount of goals (7) and got the title of
world’s best player at the World Cup of
2007. In the past she played for Vasco and
Santa Cruz (MG) teams before transferring
to the Umea IK of Sweden where she
stayed for 5 years. She participated in the
USA League and spent some time with the
Santos Club before returning to the
Swedish football, playing for the Tyresö.
