Encouraged by her father, a
professional football player who
defended the Ibis team in the decade
of 1980, Barbara began practicing
futsal at the age of 10, on a court near
her house. In 2005 she was summoned
for the first time to be a member of
the Brazilian national team and took
over as titular player during the Beijing
2008 Olympic Games. In 2006 she had
an outstanding performance when she
defended 3 penalties in the decision
match for the 3rd position at the
under-20 World Championship against
the USA.
