He was christened name, in homage
of one of the Three Musketeers, is
quite indicative - Athos was born on
a fencer’s cradle. A son of Ronaldo
Schwantes, bronze in the epée at the
Mexico City Pan American Games of
1975, he will participate for the first
time in Olympic Games. He has
competed at the Pan American
Games Rio 2007 and Santo Domingo
2003. He qualified for London 2012
with a 2nd place at the Pre-Olympic
Tournament of the Americas in April
of this year, in Chile. He lost at the
finals to Paris Inostroza, from Chile.
