The research will be carried out in project form in close cooperation with industry, with smaller projects for deep research and larger ones covering all themes. Thelarge projects will focus on a complete design: taking the interaction between allcomponents into account as part of the design of an optimal wind turbine.Power VästThe project Power Väst is commissioned by the Swedish Energy Agency and isimplemented by the Västra Götaland regional authority. The project contains anumber of sub-projects which follow the main project description as agreed withSwedish Energy Agency. The main parts are contacts with industry for windenergy development, links with schools, colleges and universities for the planningof wind energy training and development of teaching materials. ChalmersUniversity of Technology has responsibility for the coordination andimplementation of the sub-project Training and R&D cooperation, and participationin other sub-projects within Power Väst.Measurements on a DFIG Turbine in Tvååker, Halland with ride-throughabilityMeasurements have been conducted on a 2 MW wind turbine located in thecounty of Halland. Currents and voltages in various locations in the generator andconverter system were measured and analyzed. Both steady-state measurementshave been conducted as well as transient measurements during fault conditions. Agrid fault down to 0% remaining voltage for 100 ms was recorded, and the resultshowed that the turbine handled this disturbance well, i.e. it succeeded with theride-through.Post-doc projectsWind Turbines and Wind Farms Models for Power System StudiesParticipants: Abram Perdana, Ola CarlsonSponsors: Nordic Energy Research, Vattenfall and Svenska Kraftnät.Wind power penetration in the power system has reached a level that is no longernegligible. Thus, wind turbine models able to correctly investigate the influence ofwind power generation on power system stability are urgently needed. On theother hand, no standardized wind turbine model is currently available, and mostproposed wind turbine models are rarely validated. The main purpose of theproject is to provide validated generic wind turbine models for power systemstability studies. The study will be based on the generic models proposed from theprevious concluded study. The project comprises several tasks including:• Evaluation of existing built-in wind turbine models available in commercialpower system simulation tools.26 |
