Experimental Wind Turbine StationThe Division owns a 30 kW wind turbine with an extensive measurement systemfor research and demonstration. The turbine is situated on the island Hönö, 45minutes away by car and ferry from Chalmers. The turbine is two bladed, stallcontrolled, with a direct-driven permanent magnet generator. The power systemallows variable speed operation and consists of a diode rectifier and a thyristorinverter connected to the public grid. The station is also occasionally used for testsof small wind turbines in the range 0.5 – 6 kW.The experimental wind turbine station at Hönö, GothenburgDuring the year, a number of study visits have been arranged. Visitors have beenstudents at Chalmers, but also teachers and students from elementary schoolsand colleges. The station was also part of the science festival in Gothenburg inMay, as an Open House with about 50 visitors during one day of the festival.12 |
