In the Power Systems Laboratory, the Network Modelresides. The Network Modelis a 400V miniature of theSwedish power system. Itconsists of:• A synchronous generatordriven by a DC machine, which emulates a hydropower station in the northof SwedenThe power line model• A power line model, usedto emulate a long transmission line, consisting of six identical -sections thatcan be connected arbitrarily. Each -section consists of a series inductor andtwo shunt capacitors. Capacitors between the different phases are alsopresent. The power line model is connected on one end to the synchronousgenerator and on the other end to the public grid, to emulate an infinite bus• One induction machine that can be used as a motor load• Resistive loads• One dynamic load, constituted by a controllable boiler• Two tap-changer transformersFinally, there is a studentlaboratory where high-levelpedagogical design of theequipment is combined with avery high degree of safety. Inthis lab, the students can doexercises at 400 V, 4 kWlevels, on most of thecomponents they later will encounterin their role as powerengineers. A computer-basedmeasurement system withspecially developed measurementand presentation app-The student laboratorylications assists in visualizingdifferent electric power quantities. The student laboratory also contains a 1.3kW Solar power converter connected to the grid and to solar panels on the southwall of the building.11 |
