Scouts in Acon Week was one of the largest Scoungevents ever staged in Australia. In 2010 Grahame Maher, the CEO of Vodafone Qatar and founderof the World of Difference Program passed away and as a tributeto Grahame the Vodafone Foundaon created the World of DifferenceGrahame Maher Award. All previous World of Difference recipients have been asked tosubmit proposals that further their original program but on a globalscale and ulising mobile technology. There are 4 stages to thisprocess: Applicaon stage, Short list, The public vote, Final judgingCurrently I am in Stage 2 of the process as I have been shortlistedas one of three Australian nominaons to move onto Stage 3, ThePublic Vote. My email to you is to provide you with a ‘heads up’about stage 3, the Public Vote. This Friday, 7 th October vong will open (unl 21 st October) and Iwill be asking all my colleagues in Scoung (and everywhere else)to get on board and go to the vong site and vote for me so I cango through to the next stage of the process. As part of my project I intend on further expand Scoung’s rolewith the project in terms of mobilizing our members globally toteach first aid in their respecve communies and supporng thisthrough the development of web based programs and acviessimilar to the 2010 Scouts in Acon Week model and also by ulisingmobile technology to teach other first aid and to provide firstaid support to communies globally with 60% of the populaonhaving mobile phones my project certainly has global appeal/implicaons and sustainability. This is a great opportunity for not only St John Ambulance but alsoScoung and I ask that when you receive my email on Friday, orsoon aer that you forward it with a request to cast a vote to allyour colleagues not only here in Australia but all those that youhave overseas in other regions across the globe. I want this messageto go viral and it can with your assistance by asking your colleaguesto send this email on to their contact lists and so on.As a long term and commied Leader of our great Movement Ireally look forward to receiving your support and I am confidentthat I can move onto the next stage of the process and get to thefinal judging in Qatar on 2 nd November. If you need any addional informaon you can go to the websitehp://www.grahamemaheraward.com/index.php/home?region=au or you can contact me via my Naonal email addressyouth.events@scouts.com.au.15
