These movements are among the fastest joint rotations in the human body. Many of<br />

the other joint movements are similar <strong>to</strong> those of the underarm throw. The sequence of<br />

movements in the preparation phase of a baseball pitch, for example, include (for a<br />

right-handed pitcher), pelvic and trunk rotation <strong>to</strong> the right, horizontal extension and<br />

lateral rotation at the shoulder, elbow flexion and wrist hyperextension. These movements<br />

are followed, sequentially, by their ana<strong>to</strong>mical opposite at each of the joints<br />

mentioned plus internal rotation of the forearm, also known as pronation.
