backwards through the water; this extends the acceleration path; the hand acts as a<br />

3 Inward scull – propulsive force generation by the arm moving inwards and backwards<br />

through the water; this extends the acceleration path; the hand acts as a<br />

hydrofoil.<br />

4 Recovery – moving the arm through the air for the next stroke.
