New NEW AT THE LIBRARY! at the Library!This month, I.S.S launched a new library software system called Destiny, which includes anew interface for the online catalog. The new library catalog will allow searching for booksthroughout both our libraries and is accessible from any computer via the Internet.Try it! Go to the ISS webpage: http://www.isstavanger.no/. From the menu in the leftmargin, select Library Catalog.There are now some options for searching. The first screen looks like this:Library News!Also explore Destiny Quest- a more graphical version of the same catalogs:Some highlights and feature of Destiny:• Title Peek- displays books cover, excerpts and reviews• Top 10 List- the most popular recent check-outs• New Arrival List- our newest holdings• Also, library patrons with school logins will be able to create booklists, write reviewsand view their own borrowing records.Help Wanted!Summer staff is needed in the Primary Library to keep run our Holiday hours. Can you give 2weekday hours during the month of July to open the library, check books out and keep thingstidy? It is an easy job, and not a bad place to be on a summer’s day! ISS Sports NewsOur friend the sun is back shining a bit more often as well asa little while longer, springtime is upon us and our sportingseason has moved outdoors! But here is a little review of winterseason and also what we have on for spring season. If you stillwant to join us for a sport please contact JP or Mark and we candirect you to the correct coach.Track and FieldThe MS and HS team has been training in preparation forseveral different meets. On April 15th, ISS hosted the ISS Stevne.Although no other local teams participated, athletes were givenan opportunity to compete against their teammates within afriendly environment. From all reports, the meet ran smoothlyand the athletes appreciated the opportunity to challengethemselves and set individual goals. Also a special thank you toour volunteers for that meet, it can’t be held without you!On April 16th, several members of the team participated inthe Skjalgstafetten relays. ISS rose to the challenge andreceived two silver medals in the boys U14 and U16 and onebronze in the boys U16 age group. This is particularly rewardingas the teams we competed against train all year together. Allparticipants showed their team spirit and dedication to thesport. Well done!On Saturday, April 25th, the entire track team will be runningthe Siddisløpet. This is an 8k race around Stokka lake. Manypeople are expected to participate. We wish all the athletes goodluck for this race.Girls Football (Varsity and U15)The Varsity Girls Football team has been hard at work gettingready for their tournament on May 28th and 29th. Practicingtheir skills and working on teamwork is coming along nicelyand we expect to be having a couple of matches before thetournament. Keep working hard girls and see you on Monday,Wednesday and Friday from 1530-1730!U15 Girls Football has been practicing hard with Coach Espen.Their practices are held on Tuesday and Thursdays from 1530-1700. Their skills are coming along nicely for the NECIStournament in Stavanger on May 28th and 29th. Keep workinghard at practice girls.Boys Rugby has seen a lot of enthusiasm as well as numbers.The turnout is creating a great atmosphere at practice as we lookforward to our training games before the tournament to be heldat ISS on May 28th and 29th. All the coaches are pleased to seeso many young gentleman embracing a new sport.The Primary School Track season is in full swing withover 95 athletes currently participating. Practices are onThursdays from 15:30 to 16:45. We will conclude the seasonwww.isstavanger.nowith a mini-track meet hosted by the Middle and High SchoolTrack Team on Friday, May 15th at 15:30. Currently athletesare taking part in a series of low-pressure workouts designedto build coordination skills and foster teamwork. They arebecoming familiar with and learning various techniques as theyparticipate in short distance sprints, longer distance runningand games, hurdling, the long and high jump, discus andshot-put style throwing. This is a fabulous introduction to thebenefits of exercise!ISS Vikings Swim Club continues to meet on Fridaysat Randaberg pool. We will be training until the end of May.Currently 38 students are participating in the training sessionsat the pool each week. It is great to see them enjoying swimtraining and continuing to improve their stroke technique andstamina.Please remember that the students need to be collected fromthe pool at 5pm (17.00) each week. If you have any questionsregarding Swim Club training just get in touch with Ms.Hogarth.For more information on each of the sports, take a look atthe athletic board outside the cafeteria and watch for certainannouncements on the daily report.If you need any information on any tournament this year,please look at the Athletics site.
