<strong>Old</strong> <strong>Hippy</strong> opened for business in<br />
a small boutique style store on<br />
historic Whyte Avenue in Edmonton,<br />
Alberta in the fall of 1990. The selection<br />
was small but it was a start.<br />
The business grew rapidly, a loyal customer base<br />
was quickly established. <strong>Old</strong> <strong>Hippy</strong> was on the<br />
map and had become a sought out furniture shopping<br />
destination in the local market.<br />
Business was doing very well and then exploded when a Japanese businessman<br />
happened upon the store in 1992. Arrangements were made and<br />
soon four stores were opened in Hokkaido, Japan operating as exclusive <strong>Old</strong><br />
<strong>Hippy</strong> distributorships. Before long, <strong>Old</strong> <strong>Hippy</strong> achieved status and recognition<br />
as a respected Canadian furniture exporter.<br />
Interest in <strong>Old</strong> <strong>Hippy</strong>’s business concept continued through<br />
the 90’s and expanded through Western Canada by means<br />
of distributorship style stores. <strong>Old</strong> <strong>Hippy</strong> began Franchising<br />
its concept in the year of<br />
2000.<br />
