Every year he would goback to Germany to hunt with his friend GeorgWolf in Prussia. The story goes that in 1912 theyattended a special event in Kiel harbor, togetherwith steel magnate Gustav Krupp. They picked upa piece of stainless steel from the waters of theBaltic and saw there was no rust on it. Georg Wolfunderstood the potential of stainless steel in surgicalinstruments and optics.Theodor Mohwinckel suggested that he should bethe Italian distributor and the story of Wolf andMovi has endured for over a century. It spans 3more generations and has generated positivebusiness relationships that have endured evenduring two world wars. Theodor Mohwinckelproudly introduced to Italy the first urology endoscopesmade by Georg Wolf in Berlin. In 1914, the company was confiscated by the ItalianGovernment because of its German origins. In 1922, Theodor Mohwinckel came back fromexile in Switzerland at the age of 63. He boughtback the company from the government andincreased the number of Wolf products sold inItaly, expanding the range to ENT applications. Thecompany continued distributing German productsin two segments: plastics and medical devices. The baton then passed to his sons Franz andTheodor Jr, known as Teddy, and they took overleadership of the company in the late 1930s andcontinued to run it during World War II. In 1946,following the death of his brother Franz, TeddyMohwinckel took the helm of the company with aworkforce of around 60 employees.
