REVISED POINT SYSTEM FOR BASKETBALL AND FOOTBALL TICKETS
Ohio State’s Athletic Council (AC) uses a priority point system to rank its faculty and staff with
the total number of points determining football and men’s basketball ticket eligibility and
seating assignments. The priority point system, which has been in effect for decades, provides
a systematic, orderly, and fair process for obtaining seating requests. In an effort to meet the
demand and promote equity, the AC has updated its ticket policy and revised the
requirements.
Under the revised policy, as in past years, points will be determined by rank or salary, and
years of service. Policy changes new for 2012 include:
Creation of a lottery system for any faculty or staff member to purchase two tickets to
one game.
Elimination of the three‐year wait period for staff ticket requests.
Elimination of legacy ticket purchases. Once an eligible faculty/staff/retiree becomes
deceased, all ticket privileges cease.
Updated the staff salary ranges for priority points.
 Updated rules regarding part‐time status.
A loyalty bonus for consistent ticket buyers has been initiated.
Eligible faculty and staff will be limited to two full or split season tickets per household, from
the faculty/staff pool, while first time purchasers are limited to the split‐season package or a
pair of tickets to a single game. Faculty, staff, and retirees may continue to receive additional
tickets as a result of joining the Buckeye or President’s Clubs.
Faculty and staff will continue to have the flexibility either to maintain their faculty/staff
discount or to upgrade their ticket package to the public ticket rate. Discounted faculty/staff
tickets, however, require a BuckID for admittance. There is a limit of one faculty/staff
application per family
Regular Faculty Points
Regular faculty appointed on full‐time tenure, clinical, or research tracks will be awarded
points based on rank plus years of service (one point per year). Points for rank are as follows:
Rank Points
Professor 35
Associate professor 30
Assistant professor 25
Instructor 20
Auxiliary Faculty Points
Auxiliary faculty (including adjunct, some clinical, visiting professors, lecturers) shall receive
points based on rank plus years of service (one point/year). Points based on rank are as
follows:
Rank Points
Professor 20
Associate professor 15
Assistant professor 10
Instructor and Lecturer 5

Part‐time Faculty Points
Part‐time faculty will receive points based on the percentage of FTE; e.g., someone appointed
at a 70% FTE will receive points (rounded down to the nearest integer) for rank and years of
service x 0.7 and correspondingly a 30% FTE appointment will have rank and years of service
x 0.30. Some employees, such as visiting and adjunct professors and some clinical staff at the
dental clinic and OSU Medical Center are not paid directly by Ohio State. The new policy states
that no‐salary appointees, i.e., 0% FTE, will not be awarded priority points.
Staff Points
Regular staff receive points based on salary plus years of service, with one point awarded for
every year of service for 100% FTE appointments. Points based on salary are as follows:
Salary Range Points
$84,000 – Above 35
$62,000 ‐ $83,999 30
$50,500 – $61,999 25
$41,500 ‐ $50,499 20
$32,00 ‐ $41,499 15
Under $32,000 10
Staff in the lower two ranges with 10 or more full years of service get an additional 5 points
added to their total. Staff appointments at less than 100% FTE are adjusted in the same
fashion as described above for faculty. The monetary range of salaries will be reviewed
periodically to maintain an appropriate distribution.
Retiree Points
Following established practice retired faculty and staff are eligible to apply for two tickets
provided they have 25 years of service or emeritus status with The Ohio State University
prior to retirement (early buyout does not qualify towards years of service).
Once a faculty or staff person retires, the total amount of points accrued based on rank or
salary, respectively, will be frozen, no matter if the faculty/staff member is rehired at a later
date. As before, at cessation of employment service points for emeritus and retired faculty
and staff will be recalculated and awarded a half point for every year of service.
Lottery
New this year, the AC voted to implement a lottery pool for any faculty or staff member, who
is not eligible for tickets under the points system, to apply for two tickets to one randomly
selected home game. Approximately 2,000 football tickets will be available in the lottery pool.
This option will be available on the same webpage as is used for ordering season tickets.
Loyalty Bonus
A bonus of 0.1 point is credited for each year of the preceding 10 that the person has
purchased tickets up to a maximum of 0.9. Since the point threshold for buying tickets is an
integer, this bonus will not affect eligibility to buy but only have an impact on seat
assignments within a group with equal points.

• Regular and auxiliary faculty members are awarded points based on rank, plus years of service (one point per year).
• Part-time faculty and staff will receive points based on the criteria above multiplied by their percentage of FTE.
• No-salary appointees (i.e. 0% FTE) will not be awarded priority points.
• Eligible Retirees (as defined in #2 above): Once a faculty or staff person retires, the total amount of points accrued based on rank
or salary, respectively, will be frozen, regardless if they are rehired at a later date. At cessation of employment, service points for
emeritus and retired faculty and staff will be recalculated and awarded a half point per year of service.
• Refer to the preceding pages for a more detailed explanation of point calculations.
• The total number of points determines faculty/staff seating assignments.
Faculty/staff members with permanent or temporary disabilities should indicate whether they need special seating due to health
reasons in the “Additional Questions” section while completing the online ordering process. The Ticket Office will attempt to honor all
requests for special seating based on availability.
total. Limit 8 total faculty/staff seats per seating group.
5. IMPORTANT NOTES / POLICIES
Limit of one faculty/staff application per household.
Submitting a faculty/staff ticket application is not a guarantee you will receive tickets. If ticket orders exceed the supply
6. FACULTY/STAFF DISCOUNTED TICKET POLICY
The Athletic Council and Department of Athletics believe it is important that discounted tickets be used by the original purchaser or by
someone within the same category, and, in principle, access to Athletic event tickets at a discounted price is a privilege extended to
members of the university community. This privilege does not entitle anyone to abuse the ticket policy by scalping or misusing tickets they
purchase. During the ordering period, all faculty/staff applying for tickets will be provided the following options for their season tickets:
Option A: PURCHASE TICKETS AT THE DISCOUNTED FACULTY/STAFF RATE
Faculty/Staff may purchase their season tickets at the discounted rate of $448 per full season ticket or $224 per split season ticket. Tickets
will be clearly designated as faculty/staff tickets requiring a current OSU ID for admittance into Ohio Stadium.
One OSU ID will be good for admitting two faculty/staff tickets into the stadium as long as those tickets arrive at the gate together.
Faculty/staff can give their tickets to anyone else with a valid OSU ID. The name on the ticket will not need to match the OSU ID.
Faculty/staff that purchase their season tickets at the discounted rate can upgrade tickets on a game by game basis. (See below)
Option B: UPGRADE TO THE PUBLIC PRICE
Faculty/Staff may upgrade their discounted faculty/staff season ticket to the public price. This can be done by selecting the “Faculty/Staff
season ticket stock and will not be required to show any identification at the gates to Ohio Stadium.
Cost for faculty/staff discounted full season ticket $448 Cost for faculty/staff discounted split season ticket $224
Cost for upgrade to the public price $112 Cost for Upgrade to the public price $ 56
NO EXCEPTIONS. Ticket upgrade fees will include the payment of the difference between the faculty/staff ticket cost and the general
public price, as well as a service charge.
What will the per-ticket service charge be for the upgrade?
Fee structure for the upgraded faculty/staff tickets will be on a graduated scale. In addition to paying the $14 difference between the public
