Course AimsThis course is expected to give a general view and information to the trainees about the basicfeatures of Weather Radars and why and how to operate a Radar and Radar network. It isbelieved that to organize such training courses will give an invaluable contribution to thecapacity building activities and will be a great opportunity to be able to exchange theexperiences and information between the <strong>meteorological</strong> <strong>service</strong>s of different countries.2. Course ContentDuring the training, radar theory, radar hardware, processing basics in Doppler weatherradar systems, radar products and operational applications, radar maintenance andcalibration techniques and radar infrastructures will be explained.3. Deadline for NominationsInterested candidates are requested to complete the attached Nomination form (Annex II) andreturn it to the Turkish State Meteorological Service with copy to the WMO Secretariat no laterthan 29 August 2008.8. Course Information9. Air fare CostsANNEX-IThe costs of the return air ticket between İstanbul, TURKEY and the home towns of theparticipants will have to be covered by the participant country or by other means.10. Local TransfersAll local transfers including the transfers between Istanbul Airport and <strong>RTC</strong> Istanbul Facility,will be provided by WMO <strong>RTC</strong>-Turkey with no cost.11. Accommodation and FoodWMO RMTC-Turkey will provide full board accommodation, including room, breakfast,lunch and dinner for one participant from each country. Please note that there will be no perdiem allowance payable for the participants.12. Cultural ProgramAn excursion program including the natural, historical and cultural heritage of Istanbul will beorganized for participants.13. InsuranceParticipants are fully responsible for any expenses in the event of death, illness or injuryattributable to the attendance at course, and for arranging for such life, health and other form ofinsurance as they consider appropriate. The participants are highly recommended to make atravel insurance which covers their travel and visit period. TSMS accepts no responsibility forcompensation in such events.14.
