Read the criteria carefully because theymay vary between applications.All of the following must be included with eachapplication and submitted by the deadline date:1. Every item in Section A of the application (Personal Data)must be complete.2. The student’s signature on the application <strong>for</strong>m3. A stamped, self-addressed envelope (be sure <strong>to</strong> placeappropriate postage on the envelope)4. A copy of your most recent My<strong>NCC</strong> Banner transcriptincluding the courses you are currently registered <strong>for</strong>5. A typed essay (adhere <strong>to</strong> <strong>to</strong>pic and length requirements)6. All required verification letters if stated on the application<strong>for</strong>msNote:<strong>Scholarship</strong> winners must be in good academic standingApplications submitted with incompletein<strong>for</strong>mation will be considered INELIGIBLEand will be disqualified.Revised by the <strong>NCC</strong> <strong>Scholarship</strong> and Student Aid Committee 8/121. What kind of help can I get <strong>for</strong> my application? Every semester aworkshop will be given <strong>to</strong> assist students in the process. The Fall 2012workshop is September 20 th in room G111 at 11:30am.2. Will the GPA from another school be used <strong>to</strong> calculate GPArequirements <strong>for</strong> scholarships and awards? No, only the <strong>NCC</strong>GPA that you have earned from <strong>NCC</strong> <strong>for</strong> all of your courses will becounted.3. May a student apply <strong>for</strong> more than one award each semester?As long as a student fulfills all of the eligibility criteria, there is nolimit <strong>to</strong> the number of awards or scholarships <strong>for</strong> which he or she mayapply.4. If I have already won a scholarship, am I eligible <strong>to</strong> apply <strong>for</strong>that scholarship again? Sometimes, yes. Check the eligibilitycriteria <strong>for</strong> that scholarship.5. Are international students eligible <strong>for</strong> <strong>NCC</strong> scholarships andawards? Yes, as long as a student fulfills all of the eligibility criteria,all students, including international students, may apply <strong>for</strong> awardsand scholarships. (Note: Some scholarships may have residencyrequirements.)6. Will I be notified if I win a scholarship or award? Everyapplicant (except those who did not include a self-addressed, stampedenvelope) will be notified of the final decision approximately ten weeksafter the deadline dates. Winners will be invited <strong>to</strong> the <strong>NCC</strong> AwardsCeremony. Please dress appropriately (jeans/sweats are discouraged).7. Some scholarships require that the student demonstratefinancial need. How is that done? Financial need is determined byyour FAFSA (Free Application <strong>for</strong> Federal Student Aid) results. <strong>You</strong>must have filed a FAFSA and all required documents must bereviewed and satisfied with the Financial Aid Office prior <strong>to</strong>submitting your scholarship application. It is recommended that youfill out the application online at www.fafsa.ed.gov (school code:002873). (Please note: late submission of financial aid documents maytake several weeks <strong>to</strong> process).


General In<strong>for</strong>mationStudent scholarships and awards are offered at NassauCommunity College during both theFall and Spring semesters.Evaluation of submitted applications is conducted by acommittee of faculty members.<strong>Scholarship</strong> applications are available throughout thecampus and on the <strong>NCC</strong> website at www.ncc.edu/myncc.Both winning and non-winning students will be notified <strong>for</strong>each individual scholarship. Please do not phone <strong>to</strong>inquire about the status of your application after ithas been submitted.
