Microsoft has bundled additional tools, utilities, and documentation in the Microsoft Platform SDK package for Windows. With the release ofthe .NET 3.0 managed APIs, it is now known as the Microsoft Windows SDK.The Microsoft Windows SDK contains a great set of technology examples that span theWin32 API, covering most aspects of the Windows platform in addition to the new set of .NET3.0 managed APIs. Tools, samples, and documentation are provided in the Platform SDK, andalthough not a requirement, they facilitate developers working with .NET 3.0 applications. Inaddition to the Platform SDK, the debugging tools for Windows, PowerShell, 4 and other toolsare installed.Installing Windows SDK for All PlatformsThe Windows SDK is installed either from a CD/DVD, from an ISO image, or from the WindowsSDK installation website using the web installation method for Windows XP, Windows 2003, andWindows Vista. If using an ISO image, you can mount the ISO image using a tool that can create a virtualCD/DVD drive and then follow the same CD/DVD installation steps. 5 The CD/DVD installationsteps leverage autorun; or once the CD/DVD or ISO image is mounted (inserted), just doubleclickSetup.exe that is located in the root of the drive. You can run the web installation method by accessing the web installer located on theMicrosoft Downloads site. That location is currently http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=A55B6B43-E24F-4EA3-A93E-40C0EC4F68E5&displaylang=en, but it maychange in future releases.ramrameshreddyramrameshreddy4. One of the best tools that many developers leverage is Daemon Tools, located at http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php?mode=ViewCategory&catid=5. Many have stuck with the 3.47release because the 4.x release of Daemon Tools includes some additional ad-supported software thathelps defray the costs for the developer (this is free stuff).
