ANNOUNCEMENTSAuction wrap-up and thank-youOn Saturday, October 24th, 2009, over 200 people attendedthe 2009 PRC Benefit, our largest fundraising event of theyear. The event boasted nearly 150 contemporary andvintage photographs by both emerging artists and establishedart stars, including prints by such varied photographersas Minor White, Alessandra Sanguinetti, WilliamWegman, and Gordon Parks. Each year the auction raisesfunds essential to supporting the PRC’s wide-rangingphotographic events, and this year was no different. Fundsraised during the 2009 auction will allow us to present theexhibitions and educational programming that define thePRC’s important role within the photography community.In celebration of our success in 2009, the PRC staff and theboard of directors would like to thank all of the donors,artists, volunteers, and auction attendees. Submit your photos viaCD or email by <strong>February</strong> 26th to prc@bu.edu, attentionPhotoSLAM! We are only accepting submissions in digitalformat. Limit 5 images. Images must be jpegs (labeled lastname and number—e.g. Smith1.jpg), 150 dpi, no largerthan 1000 pixels in either direction. All entries should includethe artist’s name, phone number, email, image information(title, year, media, etc.), and a brief description ofthe work or series. The PRC PhotoSLAM is a great chanceto get feedback on new work or show your favorites, catchup with old friends or network with new ones, win funprizes, and see the images that other PRC members arepassionate about. October of <strong>2010</strong>!Burlesque SHOW—Were you there?In support of long-time PRC friend Henry Horenstein’slatest monograph, SHOW, the Photographic ResourceCenter (PRC) at <strong>Boston</strong> University in collaboration with theCoolidge Corner Theater presented a documentary film,book signing, and live burlesque show event on January23, <strong>2010</strong>. The show began at midnight with a preview ofMr. Showbiz: The Murray Hill Story by William A. Anderson,Henry Horenstein, and Hillary Spera, a film about NYCComedian and Drag Persona Murray Hill (who also wrotethe introduction to SHOW!). Next, the live burlesqueportion of the event showcased some of the performersfeatured in Horenstein’s monograph, as well as a varietyof hot local drag, burlesque, and cabaret acts. The eveningconcluded with Horenstein signing copies of SHOW, a bookof photographs about the myriad worlds of burlesque,drag, fetish, and sideshow, published in a limited editionby Pond Press. Horenstein’s exhibition of images fromSHOW is currently on display at Walker Contemporary, 450Harrison Ave. in the South End, through Feb. 27, in associationwith Robert Klein Gallery.4 > www.prcboston.org
