DEFINITIONS (APPENDIX D)SECTION JTRIP LEASING – Leasing a company's vehicle to another transportation service provider for asingle trip.TRUCKLOAD RATES – Truckload rates or classes are those for which a truckload minimumweight is provided, and charges will be assessed at the truckload minimum weight shown in theTSP tender, except that actual weight will apply when in excess of the truckload minimumweight. Minimum of 20,000 pounds and greater will be considered truckload minimums forshipment planning purposes.TUGBOAT – Self-propelled vessel with a V-shaped bow designed for the towing (and pushing)of ships or other floating structures such as barges in ports/harbors.VEHICLE – A flatbed, converted van, open top or a trailer or container as more fully definedherein.VESSEL – A watercraft or other artificial contrivance that is used, is capable of being used, or isintended to be used, as a means of transportation by water. 49 U.S.C. 12103(25).WATER CARRIER – A person who performs water transportation for compensation, includingboth vessel, barge, or other artificial contrivance as defined in 49 U.S.C. 12102(26).
