3.5 Water Supply & Sanitation<br />
i. Extent of Damages<br />
According to the District Census Report 1998, only 12.45% of the housing units were<br />
facilitated with drinking water inside the house while 87.55% of the housing unit used<br />
outside source as drinking water. The majority of the households were depended on the<br />
source of drinking water supply outside the house.<br />

ii. Reconstruction Plan:<br />
Donors and Sponsors have pledged nominal Water Supply and Sanitation schemes. Water<br />
and Sanitation is a priority area both for government and communities. Water and<br />

programme includes, besides reconstruction of infrastructure, components for waste<br />
management, reconstruction of building, training of communities in seismic resistant<br />
building designs and hygiene as well as capacity building of concerned line departments.<br />
