The <strong>DDD</strong>s are based on the treatment of rhinitis. <strong>DDD</strong>s are given<br />

in volume (i.e. ml). Most of the products classified in this group<br />

are combinations with antihistamines. So far, all these products are<br />

given a fixed <strong>DDD</strong> of 0.8 ml.<br />

R01AC Antiallergic agents, excl. corticosteroids<br />

Antihistamines, cromoglicate disodium <strong>and</strong> analogues are classified<br />

here.<br />

The <strong>DDD</strong> of cromoglicic acid is based on the prophylaxis of<br />

rhinitis. The <strong>DDD</strong>s of the antihistamines are based on the<br />

maintenance treatment of rhinitis.<br />

R01AD Corticosteroids<br />

Combinations of corticosteroids <strong>and</strong> antiinfectives, sympathomimetics<br />

etc. should be classified in this group at separate 5th levels by using the<br />

50-series.<br />

Fluticasone propionate is classified in R01AD08.<br />

The <strong>DDD</strong>s are mainly based on the starting dose in the treatment of<br />

rhinitis.<br />

R01AX Other nasal preparations<br />

This group comprises antiinfectives, antiseptics, mucolytics etc. which<br />

cannot be classified in the preceding groups.<br />

<strong>ATC</strong> level R01AX10 is an old level where rather obsolete nasal<br />

preparations <strong>and</strong> sodium chloride nasal products are classified. The<br />

level R01AX30 is <strong>for</strong> nasal combination products which cannot be<br />

classified in the preceding groups.<br />

Combinations of ipatropium bromide <strong>and</strong> xylometazoline are classified<br />

in R01AB.<br />

The <strong>DDD</strong>s are based on the treatment of rhinitis.<br />
