The <strong>DDD</strong> <strong>for</strong> denosumab is based on the treatment of osteoporosis.<br />

This group comprises preparations used in disorders of the musculoskeletal<br />

system, which cannot be classified in the preceding groups.<br />

M09AA Quinine <strong>and</strong> derivatives<br />

M09AB Enzymes<br />

Hydroquinine, which is used in the treatment of nocturnal leg cramps is<br />

classified in this group.<br />

Quinine is classified as an antimalaria agent in P01BC. Quinine in<br />

combination with psycholeptics is classified in M09AA72, since these<br />

combinations are used <strong>for</strong> treatment of nocturnal leg cramps.<br />

Combinations used <strong>for</strong> cold conditions, containing quinine as an<br />

antipyretic, are classified in R05X.<br />

All enzyme preparations, which are used to treat inflammatory<br />

conditions in the musculo-skeletal system, are classified in this group.<br />

M09AX Other drugs <strong>for</strong> disorders of the musculo-skeletal system<br />

Hyaluronic acid injection <strong>for</strong> intraarticular administration<br />

(e.g. 2.5 mg/ampoule) used in the treatment of arthritis is classified in<br />

this group. Hyaluronic acid injection used during surgical procedures on<br />

the eye (e.g. 4-20 mg/ampoule) is classified in S01K.<br />

The <strong>DDD</strong> <strong>for</strong> hyaluronic acid is based on intraarticular treatment of<br />

arthritis. The <strong>DDD</strong> is assigned according to daily dose even if the<br />

product is given as weekly injections.
