The <strong>DDD</strong>s are based on the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.<br />

Chloroquine <strong>and</strong> hydroxychloroquine are classified as antimalaria agents<br />

in P01BA.<br />

M01CC Penicillamine <strong>and</strong> similar agents<br />

M01CX Other specific antirheumatic agents<br />

M02 TOPICAL PRODUCTS FOR JOINT AND MUSCULAR PAIN<br />

M02A TOPICAL PRODUCTS FOR JOINT AND MUSCULAR PAIN<br />

This group comprises ointments, liniments, plasters, etc. which may<br />

produce symptomatic relief in joint <strong>and</strong> muscular pain.<br />

No <strong>DDD</strong>s have been assigned in this group.<br />

M02AA Antiinflammatory preparations, non-steroids <strong>for</strong> topical use<br />

All non-steroidal antiinflammatory derivatives <strong>for</strong> topical use are<br />

classified here, regardless of indication. Exception is a product<br />

containing diclofenac <strong>for</strong>mulated as a 3 % hyaluronic acid gel which is<br />

used in treatment of actinic keratoses. This particular <strong>for</strong>mulation is<br />

classified in D11AX.<br />

Combinations of non-steroidal antiinflammatory derivatives <strong>and</strong> other<br />

substances <strong>for</strong> topical use are classified together with plain preparations<br />

at the different 5th levels.<br />

M02AB Capsaicin <strong>and</strong> similar agents<br />

Capsaicin products indicated <strong>for</strong> the symptomatic treatment of<br />

peripheral neuropathic pain (incl. postherpetic neuralgia) are classified<br />

in N01BX.<br />
