This group comprises all hormonal preparations <strong>for</strong> systemic use,<br />

except:<br />

- Insulins, see A10.<br />

- Anabolic steroids, see A14.<br />

- Catecholamines, see C01C <strong>and</strong> R03C.<br />

- Sex hormones, see G03.<br />

- Sex hormones used in treatment of neoplastic diseases, see L02.<br />

The <strong>DDD</strong>s are generally based on the treatment or diagnosis of<br />

endocrine disorders.<br />

H01 PITUITARY AND HYPOTHALAMIC HORMONES AND<br />

ANALOGUES<br />

H01A ANTERIOR PITUITARY LOBE HORMONES AND ANALOGUES<br />

H01AA ACTH<br />

This group comprises anterior pituitary lobe hormones; extracts, purified<br />

natural hormones <strong>and</strong> synthetic analogues.<br />

Somatropin antagonists are classified in H01AX.<br />

This group comprises ACTH <strong>and</strong> synthetic analogues.<br />

H01AB Thyrotropin<br />

The <strong>DDD</strong> of corticotrophin is based on therapy, whereas that of<br />

tetracosactide is based on use as a diagnostic agent.<br />

H01AC Somatropin <strong>and</strong> somatropin agonists<br />

Mecasermin (insulin like growth factor) is classified in this group since<br />

it is used on the same indications as somatropin <strong>and</strong> somatrem. High<br />

strength preparations of sermorelin are classified here.<br />

Low strength preparations used as diagnostic agents <strong>for</strong> pituitary<br />

function are classified in V04CD.
