G02B CONTRACEPTIVES FOR TOPICAL USE<br />

Contraceptives <strong>for</strong> systemic use, see G03A.<br />

G02BA Intrauterine contraceptives<br />

IUDs (intrauterine devices) are classified in this group. IUDs containing<br />

progestogens are also classified in this group.<br />

G02BB Intravaginal contraceptives<br />

Pessaries, vaginal foams etc. are classified in this group.<br />

Intravaginal devices containing hormones are also classified in this<br />

group.<br />

The <strong>DDD</strong>s <strong>for</strong> combined devices containing estrogen <strong>and</strong><br />

progestogen are based on use in menstrual cycles of 28 days. Thus<br />

the <strong>DDD</strong> is 0.0357 UD (1 UD = 1 device).<br />

G02C OTHER GYNECOLOGICALS<br />

G02CA Sympathomimetics, labour repressants<br />

This group includes sympathomimetics used to repress labour. Similar<br />

adrenergic drugs, which are mainly used in the treatment of asthma, are<br />

classified in R03C.<br />

Fenoterol infusion only intended <strong>for</strong> repressing preterm labour is<br />

classified in this group, while other systemic <strong>for</strong>mulations of fenoterol<br />

are classified in R03CC04.<br />

The <strong>DDD</strong>s are based on use as labour repressants.<br />

G02CB Prolactine inhibitors<br />

Cabergoline <strong>and</strong> bromocriptine low dose tablets are classified in this<br />

group. Cabergoline <strong>and</strong> bromocriptine tablets in higher strengths are<br />

classified in N04 - Anti-Parkinson drugs.<br />
