C01C CARDIAC STIMULANTS EXCL. CARDIAC GLYCOSIDES<br />

This group comprises agents <strong>for</strong> the treatment of hypotension.<br />

Respiratory stimulants are classified in R07AB.<br />

Dihydroergotamine, which is used in the treatment of migraine as well<br />

as hypotension, is classified in N02CA - Ergot alkaloids.<br />

Combinations with peripheral vasodilators, see C04 - Peripheral<br />

vasodilators.<br />

This group includes various drugs used on different indications.<br />

The <strong>DDD</strong>s are there<strong>for</strong>e established individually <strong>for</strong> each substance<br />

(i.e. each <strong>ATC</strong> 5th level).<br />

C01CA Adrenergic <strong>and</strong> dopaminergic agents<br />

This group comprises sympathomimetics used in the treatment of<br />

hypotension. Etilefrin in combination with dihydroergotamine is<br />

classified in this group. Oral products of ephedrine are classified in<br />

R03CA.<br />

C01CE Phosphodiesterase inhibitors<br />

Phosphodiesterase inhibitors such as theophylline, which are used in<br />

asthma therapy, are classified in R03D.<br />

C01CX Other cardiac stimulants<br />

This group includes agents, which cannot be classified in the preceding<br />

groups.<br />

C01D VASODILATORS USED IN CARDIAC DISEASES<br />

This group comprises preparations used in ischemic heart diseases. See<br />

also C02 - Antihypertensives, C03 - Diuretics, C04 - Peripheral<br />

vasodilators, C07 - Beta blocking agents, C08 - Calcium channel<br />

blockers <strong>and</strong> C09 - Agents acting on the renin-angiotensin system.<br />
