Statement of <strong>Mix</strong> <strong>Design</strong>When concrete mix proportions are determined in accordance with Subsection 91.1905.3 or the Arbitrary<strong>Mix</strong> Proportions in Information Bulletin P/<strong>BC</strong> <strong>2002</strong>-031, the proportions of cement, aggregate, water andadmixture (when used) necessary to attain the specified strength of the concrete at the jobsite shall beset forth in a "Statement of <strong>Mix</strong> <strong>Design</strong> for <strong>Concrete</strong>" by a civil engineer or architect registered inCalifornia. The statement shall include the following:• Job address;• Specified strength (fN c )• Complete description of the type and quantity of each ingredient used in the mix, listed for a one-yardmix; including, but not limited to the following:< Maximum aggregate size< Primary aggregate gradation< Cement Content (sacks per yard based on 94 lbs. per sack)< Other approved cementitious material (if used) maximum allowable percentage< Water/cement ratio or water/cementitious material ratio (by weight)• Maximum slump• Average strength (based on laboratory or field prepared cylinders)• Signature of the registered civil engineer or architect responsible for the mix designCopies of the "Statement of <strong>Mix</strong> <strong>Design</strong> for <strong>Concrete</strong>" shall be on file at the batch plant at the timebatching of the concrete and available to the Building Official and the Registered Deputy Inspector at thejobsite prior to placing the concrete.II. Minimum Cementitious MaterialThe minimum cementitious material factor for concrete shall be five sacks of cement or cementitiousmaterial (cement and fly ash) per cubic yard. Only approved fly ash may be used in concrete.III. Maximum Slump of <strong>Concrete</strong>The maximum slump for concrete shall be six inches.Exception: <strong>Concrete</strong> mix designs utilizing an approved high-range water-reducing admixture (Type Fand G) and designed for a slump in excess of six inches may be used.As a covered entity under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the City of Los Angeles does not discriminate on the basis of disability and, upon request, will providereasonable accommodation to ensure equal access to its programs, services and activities. For efficient handling of information internally and in the internet, conversion to thisnew format of code related and administrative information bulletins including MGD and RGA that were previously issued will allow flexibility and timely distribution of informationto the public.Page 1 of 2

Minimum Slump of <strong>Concrete</strong>The minimum slump of concrete shall be 1 ½ inches.Exception: This requirement shall not apply to licensed fabricators of precast concrete units using aDepartment approved mix design for reduced slump and mechanical consolidation of the concrete.As a covered entity under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the City of Los Angeles does not discriminate on the basis of disability and, upon request, will providereasonable accommodation to ensure equal access to its programs, services and activities.
