FERNDALE CAMPUS, SWINDONBased in a Victorian building on Ferndale Road,Swindon, Oxford Brookes University has beenteaching (first registration) Adult Nursing coursesat its Ferndale Campus in Swindon since 1999.In 2003 Oxford Brookes University purchasedthe building and have since made extensiverefurbishments and improvements to site facilities.There has been a keen sense of continuing growthand development and we have expanded byintroducing a (first registration) Diploma course inOperating Department Practice (ODP).In 2007, we celebrated, with local schools,100 years of providing education to the localcommunity and now to health care students frommuch further afield.We are unique in having our own Osteopathictraining clinic on site that offers a comprehensiverange of services to staff, students and the public.STANDARD LEARNINGRESOURCES AND CLASSROOMACCOMMODATIONWe offer excellent facilities including:• comfortable seminar rooms• well-equipped lecture rooms with state of the artaudio visual equipment.• two clinical skills suites; each equipped with afive-bedded skills suite designed for practisingclinical skills.• a large student common room area, refectory,and vending machines• fully networked computers• conference and meeting facilities – room hireThe campus offers the ideal venue for yourseminar, interview or training requirements allwithin an academic environment.
CLASSROOM ACCOMMODATIONInformation, layout, structure and capacity.LARGE LECTURE ROOMLocated on the first floor, it offers flexibleaccommodation for presentations, conferencesand training. Accommodates 2 to 80 students.Measuring 14 metres x 7.4 metres, the room has amodular table system that can be easily adjustedto a variety of layouts. Capacity for 80 studentslecture style, 50 students teaching style and 50students seminar style. Lecture allows 1.0m2 perperson, teaching and seminar allows 1.5m2 perperson; the additional space is for working at smalltables or group work. Natural light, complementedby inset fluorescents, ensure an even light spread.All windows open to provide ventilation and havefull black out blinds.Up to the minute presentation and audiovisualfacilities including:• 30” LCD XGA screen• DA video audio boxes• VHS/DVD dual deck• powered speakers on wall brackets• lapel radio microphone system• EM Panel• TV/video• OHP• PowerPoint• computer networkedSEMINAR ROOMSThree seminar rooms are situated on the first floor.Accommodates 2 to 40 students.Measuring 7.31 metres x 7.5 metres, the roomscan be easily adjusted to a variety of layouts.Capacity for 40 students lecture style, 27 studentsteaching style and 27 students seminar style.Lecture style allows 1.0m2 per person.The rooms are furnished with comfortable seatingwith additional space for working at small tables orgroup work.Standard presentation and audiovisual equipment:• flip chart stand• white boards• LCD screens linked to networked computers• TV/video• projector screen• one seminar room computer networked
