Some of the word has already spread, becauseAmericans are traveling to our country in historically high numbers, benefiting from the favorable exchange rateand the unique experiences our country has to offer. Such as the experience of our varied landscapes and the vinesthat they produce, fed by the pure clean water from the Andes, and bathed in sunshine.These beautiful vineyards, with the breathtaking backdrop of snow-covered mountains, have been here for longer thanyou might imagine. In fact, Argentina’s history of winemaking dates back to the 16th Century. We are currently thefifth-largest wine-producing country in the world, but still considered “New World” because we didn’t start exportingon a large scale until recently. Besides, we have one of the highest domestic consumption rates of wine per capita.But what’s most relevant to us all here today is the rate at which our exports are increasing. Some of this is due to theexcellent price/quality ratio, but mostly because of Argentina’s superb climate for agriculture, and its highly sophisticatedtechnical expertise. Our soil not only produces wonderful interpretations of the noble varietals, but it also hasgiven the wine world our two flagship grapes, Malbec and Torrontés, which are gaining the highest praise.You can clearly read our heritage in the wonderful range of grapes that we grow: Chardonnay, Viognier, SauvignonBlanc, Malbec, Cabernet, Tannat and Syrah from France; Bonnarda, Sangiovese, and Pinot Grigio from Italy; Tempranillofrom Spain, and Verdelho, from Portugal.
